Yaneth Cabrera’s Pretty Woody Jesse tries to back up her fastest-qualifier status and score her third win from four starts in the $50,000-added New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG2) for New Mexico-breds on Sunday afternoon at SunRay Park.
Pretty Woody Jesse (Jesse James Jr-Woodbridge Duchess by Woodbridge) parlayed a tremendous start in her trial to a one-half length win in the third of six trials. Her time of :17.115, with a tailwind, topped second-place finisher and second-fastest qualifier Regal First Moon (First Moonflash-Regal Fly by Strawfly Special).
Regal First Moon was timed in :17.195.
Pretty Woody Jesse started her career with a win and then finished off the board at nearly 20-1 odds in the $212,450 New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2). She rebounded when she shipped to SunRay Park and set the fastest-qualifying mark for trainer Javier Roman Jr.
Diamond Racing Stables’ Regal First Moon made her career debut in the trials and could move forward off her second-place run for trainer Jose Muela.
Trainer Wes Giles has two horses among the top-five qualifiers: third-fastest qualifier Seeyalateralligator (Winners Version-Stars In My Eye by Mr Eye Opener) and fifth-fastest qualifier Kitellas Gal (Winners Version-Kitella by Proudest Effort).
Seeyalateralligator won his trial in his first start while Kitellas Gal with third behind Pretty Woody Jesse and Regal First Moon.
