Three races with $100,000-added purses – the Hialeah Derby, the Hialeah Laddie Futurity and the Hialeah Lassie Futurity – highlight five stakes races offered on Sunday at Hialeah Park.

Also on the program are the $50,000-added FQHRA Stallion Stakes Futurity and the $20,000 Tallahassee Stakes.

Alicia Smith’s Feature My News (Feature Mr Jess-Goodnews Montana by Dash Of Romance) tries for his third-straight win in the $192,520 Hialeah Derby and set the fastest qualifying time of :21.634 for 440 yards when he won his trial by a neck. Two starts ago the Matt Frazier-trained colt scored his first stakes win when he won the QHRAI Derby at Hoosier Park.

Lyne Leonard’s homebred Texasindependencegal (Mr Ottyes-Lovely Legs by Strawflyin Buds) was second to Feature My News in their trial with the second-fastest time of :21.672. The Lance Moore-trained filly was the 3-2 favorite in the trial after racing to a third-place finish in the Texas Classic Derby (G1). She also finished second in the Heritage Place Derby (G2) and the Retama Derby (G3).

In the $209,440 Hialeah Laddie, M and D Racing’s Connor Corona (King Corona-Sinus Pressure by Mr Jess Perry) won his maiden in his trial with the fastest qualifying time of :19.703 for 400 yards. The Yoani Abreu-trained gelding won his trial by a nose over second-fastest qualifier Joker On Jack (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Miss Six Fortunes by Six Fortunes).

Wade Helton’s Joker On Jack scored back-to-back wins, including the OHA Mystery Futurity, at Will Rogers Downs before the trial setback at 13-10 odds.

In the $176,590 Lassie Futurity, trainer Donnie Strickland boasts four finalists, highlighted by Gene Cox’s homebred fastest-qualifier Princess Lil Bit (Coronas Leaving You-Princess Toast by Toast To Dash).

Princess Lil Bit was third in the $106,000 Governor’s Stakes at Hoosier Park two starts ago and was sixth as the 17-10 favorite in the Heartland Futurity.

The other Strickland-trained qualifiers are Lynns Fortunate One (One Famous Eagle-Haileighs Reeds Dash by Reeds Dash), Panther Speed (Panther Mountain-Shaded In Speed by Corona Cartel) and Cutie Pie Perry (Jonathan Perry-Some Cute Doll by Some Dasher).

In the $85,270 FQHRA Stallion Stakes Futurity, Rancho Los Dos Potrillos’ James On The Run (Ivory James-Injun On The Run by Invisible Injun) could be favored to gain his fourth-straight win. After a pair of wins at Will Rogers Downs, the gelding took his Stallion Stakes trial by three quarters of a length as the 8-5 favorite. His time of :17.815 was the top mark from two trials.

In the 220-yard Tallahassee Stakes for older horses, Bill Price’s homebred BPS Jumpin Frisco gets the opportunity to show his quickness after competing against Grade 1 company at longer distances.

BPS Jumpin Frisco excelled at Remington Park this spring when he was a close second in the 350-yard Mr Jet Moore Handicap and raced to third-place finishes in the 400-yard Heritage Place Derby (G2) and the 400-yard Remington Park Oklahoma-bred Derby. He then qualified for the 440-yard All American Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.
