Streakin Zoomer Sets Record in Bonus Challenge in Fargo

Louisiana-bred sets a new 400-yard mark at the North Dakota Horse Park.

Streakin Zoomer held off Jess A Sign while setting a new track record Saturday while winning the $15,000 AQHA Bonus Challenge at North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo. Hastobealeader finished 1¼ lengths back in the show position.

Ridden by jockey Rusty Shaw, Streakin Zoomer completed the 400-yard course over a track rated "good" in :20 flat, earning a 104 speed index and posting a new track record. The previous record of :20.187 seconds was set August 21, 2009, by No Temper Here.

Ed Ross Hardy conditions the 5-year-old by leading Shazoom for Reliance Ranches LLC. J.E. III, D.C. and C.T. Jumonville bred the stallion in Louisiana from the multiple stakes producing Streakin La Jolla mare A Streakin Mate.

The $7,500 winner's purse improved Streakin Zoomer's earnings mark to $57,520 with a 22-6-7-0 record.

Runner-up Jess A Sign earned $3,750. Also owned by Reliance Ranches LLC and trained by Hardy, the Mr Jess Perry 4-year-old was ridden by Zack Ziegler. Terry Bell bred the Oklahoma-bred from the Vital Sign mare Lett Her Sign.

Robert Don Johnson saddled Hastabealeader for owner John Johnson. Wardell Quarter Horses bred the Hasta Be Fast gelding from the Special Leader mare Leadmetoyourladder. He earned $2,100 for the effort.

JA Gots Fancy Man and Chicks Skidoo completed the field. Trac A Tac was scratched.
