Brett Mennen’s homebred The Lizzard King won his second consecutive stakes at Delta Downs on Saturday night as he prevailed by a length in the $50,000 Miss Polly Classic at 400 yards. The 4-year-old Texas-bred gelding by Valiant Hero stopped the timer at :19.454 with John Hamilton aboard at favored odds of 7-5.

The Lizzard King has now won half of his 14 career starts, including the Develop A Plan Stakes (G3) last time out. Last year the gelding won a division of the Evangeline Downs Derby, and his earnings now stand at $157,224.

Malinche Cattle Co. Inc.’s homebred Charal Kid, who finished second to The Lizzard King in the Develop A Plan, finished second again and boosted his career bankroll to $496,219 with a record of 48-18-12-3. The 7-year-old gelding swept the Develop A Plan and Miss Polly in 2010 and 2012.

Longshot Feature My News, a stakes winner in Florida and Indiana last year, took third.
