November 14, 2013
Trial winners and the two-fastest qualifiers — F J La Joya and So You See — meet over 350 yards in the $23,275 AQRA President’s Futurity at Turf Paradise on Sunday afternoon.
F J La Joya (The Bounty Man-Terri Tazer by Panther Mountain) dominated the two trials when she took the first trial by 1 1/2 lengths with a :17.844 time, the only time under the :18.0 mark. The Eloy Mendoza-trained filly broke through when she won her maiden in her third start with the trial win. She qualified for the John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge in her career debut and raced to a fifth-place finish in the finals.
Ralph or Carolyn Fales’ homebred So You See (Azyoucansee-Genuine Rocks by Rocky Jones) also won her maiden with her trial win. She pulled out to a 1 1/2-length score for trainer Ralph Fales with a :18.078 time. Last spring, she qualified for the $30,000 Desert Classic Futurity (R) and, after a summer layoff, she returned to finished third in a Turf Paradise maiden race.
Cesar Dabdoub’s homebred Princess Braytini (King Of The Tracks-Braytini by Corona Cocktail) could be ready for a win in her first stakes appearance after finishing on the board in each of her four starts. She won her maiden for trainer Omar Lorta two starts ago while defeating So You See and then finished second behind F J La Joya in their trial. Princess Braytini raced to the third-fastest time of :18.080.
