Bryon Gardner’s Valiant Lil Lady looks for her second stakes win of the young Hialeah Park season when she starts as the 5-2 morning-line favorite in the $25,000 The Signature Stakes over 350 yards on Saturday afternoon.

Valiant Lil Lady (Valiant Hero-Rustys Lil Lady by Fredericksburg) scored in the $27,000 Bienvenido De Nuevo Stakes on December 8 by a head in a battle with Mo Zoomo (Shazoom-Stylish Form by The Signature), who is also in The Signature. Valiant Lil Lady covered the 330 yards in a quick :16.683. The Hialeah track record is :16.481.

The Bienvenido De Nuevo Stakes was the sole win from five tries this year for the Judd Kearl-trained sophomore filly. She gained national acclaim 13 months ago when she raced to a head win in the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) to earn the majority of her $514,056 in earnings. She has five wins from 10 career starts.

Sacramento Chavez’s Mo Zoomo is back for another try at Valiant Lil Lady after the very narrow loss in the Bienvenido De Nuevo Stakes. That was his first start in 17 months and he should be in sharper form. Before his extended layoff, he won back-to-back races and then was second in the $105,000 Indiana QHRAI Derby after holding the lead.
