Kris Locklear’s Worlds On High earned a hard fought victory in Friday night’s $50,000 Vigil Bond Stakes at Delta Downs.

Worlds On High, who is trained by Vann Haywood, broke fast under jockey Alfonso Lujan and battled with Downtown Forrest throughout the 870-yard test before hitting the finish line just a head in front of his tenacious rival who settled for second. Mr La Jollas Game was another 5 lengths behind the top pair in third.

Worlds On High covered the distance over a fast track in :45.938. The clocking was good for a speed index of 93.

The win by Worlds On High marked the 15th of his 54-race career and he earned $30,000 for his effort. Worlds On High has now bankrolled $273,413.

Worlds On High is an 8-year-old gelding by Game Patriot, out of the On a High mare Sissyisonahigh. He was bred in Louisiana by Don L. Ming.

Sent to the post as the wagering favorite, Worlds On High returned $5.40 to win, $3.60 to place and $2.60 to show. Downtown Forrest was worth $7 to place and $3.80 to show. Mr La Jollas Game paid $4.20 to show.
