On October 26, Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs will be the site for a full day of fun for the whole family with a barbecue cook-off, children’s activities and live racing that includes more than horses.

For the first time in track history, racing fans will be able to cheer on their favorite zebra in a non-wagering race that features four of the striped animals charging down the front stretch with jockeys on their backs. Horse racing begins at noon, with the zebra race occurring in the middle of the racing schedule.

The zebras will be on display in the saddling paddock all day Friday and Saturday. The area is located on the west side of the building.

Kicking off the day’s events will be the fourth annual Boo-B-Que, which features numerous teams serving hundreds of hungry guests while competing for $3,000 in cash prizes. There will be $5 taster kits available at 11 a.m., and winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m.

“The annual Boo-B-Que cook-off is a great way to support the Claremore Reveille Rotary Club in its efforts to fund numerous projects for Rogers County children,” said Shawn Payne, marketing manager for Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs. “Guests get to eat a lot of great barbecue and enjoy all the fun events we have happening throughout the day.”

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., children can get their faces painted, bounce in the Jupiter jump, ride ponies and enjoy numerous pig races as part of the annual Family Fun Day. All activities are free.

The fifth annual Halloween carnival will keep the party going from 6 to 8 p.m. with an assortment of games and activities for children ages 10 and younger.

The festivities will go late into the night inside the Dog Iron Saloon for those 18 and older, where Nick Gibson takes the stage at 9 p.m.

Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs is located three miles east of Claremore on Highway 20. For more information, visit www.cherokeestarrewards.com or call (918) 283-8800.
