The American Quarter Horse Association is proud to sponsor with the National Cutting Horse Association for the AQHA-NCHA Weekend, May 30 - June 1 in 25 cities throughout the United States and Canada.

AQHA-NCHA Weekend is cutting’s biggest celebration of its grassroots participants, and this year, all of the shows are dual-approved. Points earned in designated classes will count toward qualification for the Built Ford Tough AQHYA, Adequan Select, Bank of America Amateur and AQHA Open world championship shows.

“A large percentage of the horses that compete in NCHA are American Quarter Horses, and this nationwide weekend of cutting is a great opportunity to spotlight the crossover between NCHA and AQHA,” said Tom Persechino, AQHA executive director of competition and breed integrity.

“We are excited for our partnership with NCHA, and the large number of horses and riders who will qualify for AQHA world championship shows during AQHA-NCHA Weekend.”

New this year, these events will be double-judged, which means competitors will receive double the points. Competitors should check with their area directors to find which AQHA-NCHA Weekend locations will offer this double-judging system.

Last year’s AQHA-NCHA Weekend awarded more than 200 amateur points and approximately 160 open points to weekend cutters, which made them eligible for a shot at the $41,000 in amateur payouts and more than $80,000 in open money awarded at the 2013 AQHA World Championship Show. A pinnacle event that attracts thousands of competitors and their American Quarter Horses each year to vie for thousands in winnings, the 2014 AQHA World Show is tentatively scheduled for November 7-22 in Oklahoma City.

With 25 locations during the May 30 - June 1 weekend, AQHA-NCHA Weekend is a great opportunity for cutters of all skill levels to earn AQHA points.
