The Federation of European Quarter Horse Associations kicks off its biggest event of the year – the FEQHA European Championships of American Quarter Horses – this weekend in Rieden-Kreuth, Germany. Spanning from August 10-18, the show spotlights Europe’s best American Quarter Horses and their riders vying for prestigious medals and €50,000 worth of prizes and money.
Patterns and working orders are posted at www.ecqh.eu for the 2013 FEQHA European Championships.
Although entries are still coming in, the show office has already tabulated more than 300 horses entered into this year’s event. There is quite the demand for box stalls for youth and amateur exhibitors sponsored by FEQHA, and for good reason. One box stall, worth €250, is awarded to every youth who shows his or her horse in at least two different youth classes. Similarly, every amateur who shows his or her horse in at least two different amateur classes receives a grant of €100 per horse off of the stall price.
Among the largest performance classes so far looks to be senior trail, which boasts 31 entries. As of now, youth showmanship and horsemanship feature more than 40 entries each. Select amateur classes are looking to be quite sizable, and an all-around Select champion will be crowned at the conclusion of the show.
For exhibitors competing in trail, paid warm-ups will be offered and assisted by Ann Dennis. Participants should enter visit the show office to enter their horses in the warm-ups.
