The 2013 SmartPak AQHA West Novice Championship Show kicked off today in Las Vegas.
Exhibitors at the 2013 SmartPak American Quarter Horse Association West Novice Championship Show prepared for the first day of competition in Las Vegas. Classes began at 8:30 a.m. at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center, with Novice youth and Novice amateur hunt seat equitation over fences followed by working hunter, hunter hack, hunt seat equitation and hunter under saddle.
Attendees are invited to the exhibitor party this evening at 7 p.m. hosted at the Cinch Bar.
The SmartPak West Novice Championship is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse Novice exhibitors who must qualify for this event nationally or through a state or provincial affiliate to compete in classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 1,450 entries are competing for top honors at this year’s event. The event is free and open to the public October 2-6.
The SmartPak AQHA West Novice Championship features free Ride the Rail/Ride the Pattern clinics taught by AQHA Professional Horsemen. Ride the Rail/Ride the Pattern clinics are open to the public. Disciplines featured at the clinics include equitation over fences, hunt seat equitation, trail, horsemanship and showmanship.
