Qualify through your affiliate for the AQHA Novice championships.

  • All candidates will be required to compete and qualify at the designated 2013 AQHA Novice Championship - Texas Qualifying Show.
  • To be eligible to qualify in 2013 as a state level qualifier in Texas, individuals will be required to compete in their designated qualifying Novice Champion of Champions class at the 2013 Aggie Super Circuit held in College Station, Texas, on April 13-14, 2013.
  • Contestants who would like to qualify will be required to enter and compete in the Novice Champion of Champion Classes where offered.  Champion of Champion classes will run in conjunction/concurrently with the corresponding Aggie Super Circuit classes, however a separate Champion of Champions entry will be required for each class.
  • Novice Championship qualifying classes will be offered in both the Novice amateur and Novice youth categories in the following classes:
    • Halter geldings and mares  – all age divisions including performance halter
    • Showmanship
    • Horsemanship
    • Western pleasure
    • Western riding
    • Trail
    • Reining
    • Hunter under saddle
    • Hunt seat equitation
  • The top three competitors in each TQHA Novice Champion of Champions class will be recognized as a Texas State qualifier and authorized to enter the 2013 AQHA Novice Championship show of their choice: either Murfreesboro, Tennessee, or Las Vegas.
  • To be eligible to compete in TQHA Novice Champion of Champion classes, and/or to qualify for the AQHA Novice Championship as a state representative at either designated qualifying show, contestants must be a current (2013) member of Texas Quarter Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association.
    • In classes available for qualification where a Novice Champion of Champion class is not offered, contests will be allowed to qualify in the designated corresponding amateur, youth or Novice class. If a Novice level class is not offered, the qualifying class may run within the amateur or youth class. The top-three placing Novice exhibitors within these classes will qualify. These classes will be noted on the show schedule as the qualifying class. Since these are not Champion of Champion classes, a Champion of Champions entry fee will not be charged, however, a qualifier entry fee will be charged and membership requirements will still need to be met.
  • Individuals wishing to qualify at the state level for classes that will be offered at the 2013 AQHA Novice Championship shows, but are not offered at the 2013 TQHA Novice Championship Qualifying Show - The Aggie Super Circuit, will still have an opportunity to qualify at another designated qualifying show.
  • Due to the fact that pole bending, barrel racing and race are not offered at the Aggie Super Circuit, but are a 2013 AQHA Novice Championship class, the 2013 designated qualifying show for these classes will be at the Alamo Breeders Quarter Horse Show held in San Antonio, Texas, on May 11-12, 2013.
    • The top three Novice exhibitors in each designated class will be recognized as a Texas State qualifier and authorized to enter a 2013 AQHA Novice Championship show of their choice in either Murfreesboro, Tennessee, or Las Vegas. A qualifier entry fee will be charged for designated qualifying classes and membership requirements will still need to be met.
  • In the event that additional classes are added by AQHA to the 2013 AQHA Novice Championship shows, designated qualification locations for those events will be added.
