Qualify through your affiliate for the AQHA Novice championships.

  • The Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Association state qualifying dates for the 2013 AQHA Novice Championship shows will begin with the Rocktoberfest Show and continue through the Colorful Colorado Horse; state qualifying will begin during this time period on the first day of paid Novice membership.
  • All exhibitors intending to qualify in an event or events must declare such intent in writing no later than June 1, 2013. All declaration forms must be completed and returned specifying that the exhibitor-and-horse combination intend to qualify.  
  • The top four horses in each event will represent RMQHA at the Novice championships. Any RMQHA members receiving national invitations will represent RMQHA in addition to the top four riders/horses qualifying through the state.  
  • All points earned at the individual shows will be calculated on a one-horse, one-rider basis. Contestants in the top nine will be given one point for each exhibitor placing below him plus one point up to a maximum of nine points. (Example: If there are 12 horses in the class, the first place horse will receive 9 points, second place will receive 8 points, etc. through nine placings.)
  • In the case of a tie, the Novice winning the highest number of first places will be selected, followed by the highest number of second place awards.
  • All qualifiers must be current members in good standings with RMQHA.
  • Any appeals regarding qualifiers must be submitted in writing to the RMQHA office and be received on or before September 1, 2013. Final decision will be made by the Show and Performance vice president.

These qualifying rules will remain in effect for the 2012 and 2013 show season.
