AQHA Select World Show 2015

2012 Select World

Performance Halter Mares

An exciting world champion start for Susan Knapp

After owning Cool Krymsun Lady for about three and a half years, Susan Knapp decided to take her in a new direction for the 2012 Adequan Select World Championship Show.

Her decision to take “Annie” into the performance halters mare class was in large part thanks to her trainer, AQHA Professional Horseman Jason Martin of Highpoint Performance Horses of Pilot Point, Texas.

“(Jason) suggested we get her to the halter, so we took her to the (Minnesota Quarter Horse Association) Corporate Challenge and J.R. Reichert helped me … because I had never really shown halter,” Susan said. “We won under all four judges and that qualified us (for the Adequan Select World).”

Cool Krymsun Lady, by One Hot Krymsun and out of Cool Lookin Lady by Dont Skip Zip, has also done well at competition with Susan’s daughter.

“It was a dream for (my daughter) to win (at the All American Quarter Horse) Congress and she did.  We’re very happy for her.”

Susan had many people cheering for her to win the performance halter mares class tonight. Her Highpoint Performance Horses “camp,” J.R. and AQHA Professional Horseman Ted Turner were all watching her and Annie perform.

“Ted Turner really helped us get her ready and helped me,” she said.

As far as celebrating, Susan said she’ll be getting ready for Sunday's classes. She’s hoping to put herself in the running for the show's Farnam Select All-Around Amateur award.

“I’m gonna go ride tonight to get my horse used to going into the arena and going back and forth to the walls so that when we’re in there doing western riding, he doesn’t get scared,” she said.

So far, Annie’s first appearance at the Adequan Select World is going fantastically.

“I’m just real happy,” she said. “She’s a beautiful, great performance mare, and I’m just real happy to have gotten her the title today.”
