There's lots of fun to be had in Amarillo next week at the Adequan Select World.

Join the fun events at the 2012 Adequan Select World.

The 2012 Adequan Select World Championship Show kicks off on August 24 and runs through September 1 in Amarillo.

AQHA is excited to host the 10th year of the Adequan Select World, celebrating a week of competition and fun with great friends.

As part of this year's celebration, there are a host of parties, receptions and activities to attend. Be sure to add these events to your social calendar:

Sunday, August 26 – Reception, hosted by the American Quarter Horse Foundation, 4-5:30 p.m., VIP Club
Monday, August 27 - Select Exhibitor Party, 7-9 p.m., American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum
Wednesday, August 29 - AQHA Barn Party, hosted by Michael Gaughan's South Point Arena and Equestrian Center, 7 p.m., between the main arena and the Bill Cody; live entertainment provided by Zac Wilkerson
Thursday, August 30 – Reception, hosted by Markel Insurance, 4:30-6 p.m., VIP Club
Friday, August 31 – Reception, hosted by The American Quarter Horse Journal, 5-6:30 p.m., VIP Club

Free Ride the Rail/Ride the Pattern clinics, sponsored by AQHA Corporate Partner Nutrena, will be conducted during the week. AQHA Professional Horsemen will demonstrate how they would approach a class or pattern. Spectators have the chance to monitor and attend these interactive demonstrations.

Other activities during the Adequan Select World include starting the day off right by visiting the Foundation Ambassadors at the coffee cart located outside the Amarillo National Center.

You also have the opportunity to tour the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum and view the fifth annual America’s Horse in Art Show & Sale. Many of the beautiful pieces of Western art are still available for purchase and would make a great addition to any collection. Proceeds go to the Hall of Fame’s efforts to preserve the history of the American Quarter Horse.

The Adequan Select World is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse exhibitors, ages 50 and over, around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. The more than 1,270 entries at this year’s event, representing competitors from 40 of the United States, Argentina, Canada and Sweden, are competing for 43 world championships.
