Last year, AQHA brought the management of the AQHA World Show Sale in-house, and the sale was a resounding success.

“The sale average jumped to a very impressive $8,388 per head with a high seller of $81,000,” said Doug Hayes, AQHA director of business development and the in-house staff person coordinating the sale.

The sale, run concurrently with the AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City, will return this year to the Performance Arena in Barn 6, which is equipped with a super-screen, allowing video to be played while horses are sold. The sale is November 17 and is preceded the day before with a full sale preview.

“We want to make every effort to show these horses to the best of their abilities in the preview,” Hayes said. “For some horses, that may mean being worked over jumps or on cattle.”

Any successful sale must be based on the quality of horses, so the AQHA World Show Sale Committee, composed of highly regarded horsemen and -women, will review the consignments to ensure that every sale horse is of that certain quality.

The committee will accept horses based on an analysis of each horse’s performance record, pedigree, dam and sire performance records, conformation and athletic ability.
