Ford Youth World kicked off today in Oklahoma City.

Exhibitors at the 2012 Built Ford Tough American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Show shined their boots and dusted off their hats for Day 1 of competition in Oklahoma City. Classes began at 8 a.m. in the Jim Norick Arena, with the finals in performance halter mares and performance halter geldings, followed by prelims in western riding.

This evening, AQHA Professional Horseman Brad Kearns of Grayslake, Illinois, will teach a free Ride the Pattern clinic on how to properly perform the Ford Youth World horsemanship pattern. AQHA Professional Horseman Buddy Fisher of Abilene, Texas, will also teach a free Ride the Pattern trail clinic this evening.

“AQHYA members have been working hard year-round for the chance to compete at this year’s Ford Youth World,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Don Treadway Jr. “We want to congratulate all AQHYA members for their hard work and dedication, and the Association wishes everyone the best of luck!”

The Ford Youth World has a variety of events and activities for competitors, friends, family and spectators to take part in throughout the show, including a College Fair August 3-5 in the trade show, located in the Cox Pavilion.
