June 29, 2009 - The 9-year-old stallion Coronas Prospect got his first stakes winner on Friday when Kiss A Corona won the $162,500 Oklahoma Horsemen's Association Futurity (RG3).
Kiss A Corona, a homebred for Southern Rose Ranch, went 350 yards in :17.574 and won by a neck at 15-1 odds, notching his second win in three starts.
Coronas Prospect is a third-crop sire with 18 winners from 37 starters. The bay is a son of Corona Cartel out of the Fantastic Native mare Fantastic Polly. He won eight of 20 starts, including the Cajun Kindergarten Futurity (G3) and Bayer Legend East Derby Challenge (G3). He was also stakes placed in the 2003 Bayer Legend Derby Challenge Championship (G1) and Southern California Derby (G1).
Coronas Prospect stands at Maui Farms at Purcell, Oklahoma, for a $2,000 stud fee.
