JOHN DEERE JUVENILE GOES TO HOIST MISSION


October 31, 2009 --
Hoist Mission posted a :17.424 for an extremely close victory in the $150,000 John Deere Juvenile on October 31st at Los Alamitos. The sorrel gelding is owned by Michael W. Isom.

Hoist Mission broke first despite an overall poor start to the race. He lead the whole way, but favorite and eventual second place finisher, Crystal Sola, gained on him. Hoist Mission ultimately won by a nose. Crystal Sola is owned by Ed Melzer.

Trainer Eddie Willis believes the runner up "ran a good race. She got away pretty good but just got outrun."

"She hesitated a little and didn't really break as sharp as she can," said jockey Jimmy Brooks.

Crystal Sola picked up $30,000 for second and Regal Rockn, owned by S. Pierce and Larry Stark and ridden by Vince Guerra  netted $15,000 for third.

With Zacharie Kelsey in the irons for trainer Blane Schvaneveldt, Hoist Mission earned $69,000 bringing his career earnings to $135,275. This is his third win of the year

Hoist Mission was bred by owner Michael W. Isom of Brigham City, Utah. He is by Maknmoves out of With Real Intent by Raise A Secret.
