In a day and age when most kids are plugged in and online, 14-year-old Renee Pope has an interest that doesn’t require batteries.
Horse-crazy since she was a toddler, Renee knew she’d one day have a horse of her own. Then a horse named "Kit" wandered into Renee’s life.
“She caught my attention ... I walked through several groups of horses, and she followed me, almost as if to say, ‘Pick me!’ ”
Since then, they’ve truly bonded.
“I can be having the worst day and see her, and it becomes a good day. She’s just my joy,” Renee says. “My horse has helped me learn that I can be patient, I can be calm, and that I can slowly work through things.”
“I own an American Quarter Horse, and I'm proud to be an AQHYA member.”
– Renee Pope
