PEPTOBOONSMAL CHALLENGE FOR MARE REPRODUCTION AND ORTHOPEDIC RESEARCH AT COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY.
The American Quarter Horse Foundation announces a challenge to support equine research in the area of mare reproduction and equine orthopedics. In a partnership with Elaine Hall of Weatherford, Texas, and Colorado State University, the American Quarter Horse Foundation has created a fund in honor of one of the most popular young cutting horse sires, Peptoboonsmal.
Elaine Hall has agreed to match $1 for every $1, up to $50,000, in honor of her stallion, Peptoboonsmal. Peptoboonsmal was the 1995 NCHA Futurity Champion in both the semi-finals and finals. Other achievements include the 1996 Gold Coast Champion and 1996 Bonanza Chamipon and 1996 NCHA Derby Finalist. Elaine and her husband, Larry, raised and showed Peptoboonsmal until 1996, at which time he was retired to stud.
Peptoboonsmal offspring have earned more than $950,000 making him the youngest sire in the current top five NCHA producing stallions. Ms. Hall knows the importance of mare selection and care. She has created a challenge to all AQHA and NCHA members to contribute to equine research focused on mare reproduction and equine orthopedics.
Upon completion of the Peptoboonsmal Challenge, the American Quarter Horse Foundation will provide financial support Colorado State University’s equine research programs - through the interest earned generated from the Peptoboonsmal Challenge.
It is critical for our industry to continue to research and study the reproduction problems in mares of all breeds. In addition orthopedic studies continue to aide and protest our competitive horses. If the breeding and care of horses impacts your life, please consider support research through the Peptoboonsmal Challenge.
