It’s no easy feat to stand at the top of the heap at the end of a long show season. That’s exactly why every year AQHA recognizes hard-hauling individuals and their American Quarter Horses.
To keep owners and riders abreast of their standings in the AQHA year-end race, The American Quarter Horse Journal tracks performance statistics mined from the AQHA database. Every month, the latest standings are tabulated and presented in the Journal.
Open and amateur division year-end high-point winners are honored at the AQHA convention, while youth winners are presented at the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City.
Annually, AQHA recognizes the top point earners in each division of every AQHA-approved event. Horses are recognized in the open division, while youth and amateurs with any one horse are recognized in their respective division.
Several year-end all-around awards are presented each year:
For eligibility in the year-end all-around high-point race, points must be earned in halter or performance halter, plus at least two of the performance categories listed in Rule 417(c) of the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations, with a minimum of five points earned in the lowest category.
