AQHA's publications department consists of The American Quarter Horse Journal, The American Quarter Horse Racing Journal and America's Horse, and their respective Internet properties.
Our magazines reach into all aspects of the horse industry, from horse racing to showing to recreational activities like trail riding. In the past, our interns have written features and short items for print and online coverage of the American Quarter Horse industry and related activities.
We offer three paid internships: spring (January-April), summer (May-August) and fall (September-December).
While the summer internship is the most logical and popular choice, we would like you to seriously consider putting your college studies on hold for a semester to participate in our spring or fall internships.
The post-holiday and early spring months at AQHA are usually pretty quiet, with limited or no business travel. This is your chance to really build your portfolio with a variety of writing projects that you’ll do for all three of our publications.

Championship Show on Labor Day in Amarillo, you will be busy creating short articles for the Journal’s online coverage of the show. Back at the office after the show, you’ll be responsible for generating copy for the special Bayer Select World Show coverage in the next issue of the Journal. You’ll barely have time to do your laundry and get back into a good sleep pattern before you head to the AQHA World Championship Show – the granddaddy of all of AQHA’s events – for nearly three weeks in November in Oklahoma City. If you’re looking for a crash course in event coverage, the fall internship is for you!
