The American Quarter Horse Racing Journal, July 19, 2009 -- Zoomin With Ease bested the field after a big rally in the final 50 yards to win the $625,000 Rainbow Futurity (G1) July 19, 2009, at Ruidoso Downs. Despite a delayed start to the race, the fourth fastest qualifier improved upon his trials time by posting a :19.586.
The race was delayed several minutes after Love Samba, who won her trial by 4 lengths to become the fastest qualifier for the Rainbow Futurity (G1), flipped in the starting gate. All of the horses were unloaded and Love Samba was checked by the track veterinarian before the race began. Love Samba finished fourth.
Favorite Cartel, the appropriately named favorite heading into the race, and jockey Cody Jensen ended up third. Jensen rode Inseperable (Separatist-A Delightful Legacy by First Down Dash) to a win in yesterday's Rainbow Derby (G1).
With Russel Hadley up for trainer John Buchanan, Zoomin With Ease earned his first win in five starts. The sorrel gelding also earned a speed index of 95, one-upping his previous best of 94.
Zoomin With Ease was bred by owner Bobby D. Cox, of Fort Worth, Texas. His sire, Azoom ($738,136), had 11 wins, including four stakes wins, in 14 starts. Azoom won the 2004 TQHA Sale (RG1), Sam Houston (G1) and the Texas Classic (G1) futurities. Zoomin With Ease is out of Grade 1 Stakes winner All About Ease ($309,503), by First Down Dash. She was also bred by owner Bobby D. Cox.
