LOCATION:  Fort Churchill State Park, Boy Scout Camp Area, Weeks, NV

FEES:  $25 per adult or $15 per youth
Fee includes clinic, lunch, trail ride and goodies.                                   

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS/FEE:  Parking fee: $5 per vehicle

BACKGROUND: Fort Churchill was built in 1861 to provide protection for the early settlers and was an active United States Army fort. Nine years later, the fort was abandoned and today is preserved as it was in the late 1800s. Visitors to the fort can enjoy hiking, historic and environmental education, camping, picnicking, photography and canoeing. Base camp will be located at the Boy Scout Camp Area.

ITINERARY:  Saddle up for the Cure! This Ride event will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness. Check-in at 9 a.m. with the Ride leaving base camp at 10 a.m. Enjoy approximately a two hour ride on easy trails along the Carson River. Return for lunch. A poker hand will be included along with raffle prizes and a silent auction.

DIRECTIONS:  From Reno – Take 80 East to Fernley, take Highway 95 Alternate South toward Yerington. Travel approximately eight miles past Silver Springs where you will come to Weeks. After crossing the Carson River, travel ¼ of a mile and take a left onto a dirt road. Take a left into the 2^nd turn off. Proceed into camp area. Signs will be posted.

From Yerington – Take Highway 95 Alternate North, as you are coming down the hill into Weeks, look for signs, take a right onto the dirt road before crossing the Carson River. Take a left into the 2^nd turn off and proceed into camp area. Signs will be posted.

RENTAL HORSES:  No     

STALLS AVAILABLE:  No

FACILITIES AVAILABLE:  Restrooms, water for horses and trailer tie-up is permitted.

HORSE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: Out-of-state horses required to have current health certificate and in-state horses need current brand inspection.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  All AQHA Trail Rules apply, in addition to Fort Churchill State Park ~ Boy Scout Camp Area Rules.
