AQHA RIDE PROGRAM

BUTTERFIELD, MINNESOTA

HOST AFFILIATE:  Minnesota Quarter Horse Association & Prairie Roads Wagon Train

DATE:  June 13-15, 2008

LOCATION:  Voss Park, Butterfield, MN

FEES:   Adults - $12 per day or $30 for three days
            Youth 15 & under - $6 per day or $15 for three days
Preregistration deadline is May 21, 2008. Registration fee is non-refundable.                              

DAILY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Once again, join Prairie Roads Wagon Train as they set out for a weekend of trail riding and camaraderie at Voss Park. Voss Park was donated to the City of Butterfield by A.R. Voss, a prominent citizen of the area. In addition, Voss Park is home to the annual Butterfield Gas & Steam Engine show held each August. The park has a large campground, Pioneer Village, shelters and a small lake.   

ITINERARY: The event will follow along county and township roads and is designed for all levels of riders, horses and teamsters. Each day participants will leave base camp at approximately 8:30 a.m. with a morning break around 10 a.m. There will be a lunch break on the trail with participants returning to base camp each evening around 4:30 p.m. There is a fun show planned with various horse games Saturday evening for wagon train participants.

DIRECTIONS:  Butterfield is located on Minnesota State Highway 60 in southern Minnesota. Voss Park is on the west side of Butterfield, just off County Road 5.

MEALS:  Meals will be provided at the participant’s expense. Various civic and group organizations will provide meals from Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon. Meals range from $4 - $7 per person.

RENTAL HORSES:  No     

STALLS AVAILABLE:  No

FACILITIES AVAILABLE:  Electrical hook-ups are available for campers located in campsites in the park campground. These will be close to horses and rigs. Showers, restrooms, water for horses, on-site dump station and trailer tie-up is permitted.

HORSE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: Negative Coggins must be presented upon check-in.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  No stallions, no loose dogs, no tying to trees and no alcohol on the trail.
