BACKGROUND: If you are a history buff, this state park is just the place for you! The park is the site of the former Willamette Mission, established in 1834 by Reverend Jason Lee, who traveled overland from the eastern United States to teach the Native Americans in the Oregon Country. After 1840, Willamette Mission moved from this site on the floodplain to Chemeketa (now Salem). Today, the old Willamette Mission has been rebuilt as a ghost structure. You can see the structure from the Jason Lee Willamette Mission Monument on the mission trail.
ITINERARY: Enjoy the day of easy, well-maintained trails with views of the Willamette River, Windsor Island Slough, meadows and farmlands. Riders may encounter bikers and hikers throughout the park. A box lunch is included in the entry fee.
DIRECTIONS: Located on I-5 – North or South: Take the Brooks/Gervais exit, travel west and turn right onto Wheatland Road. Take left into the park. Willamette Mission State Park – (503) 393-1172.

STALLS AVAILABLE: Four horse corrals for overnight stabling and camping. Reservation is required – (800) 452-5687
FACILITIES AVAILABLE: Portable restrooms, water for horses and trailer tie-up is permitted.
HORSE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: Negative Coggins must be presented upon check-in.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: All AQHA Trail Rules apply, in addition to Willamette Mission State Park Rules.
