TALIHINA, OKLAHOMA HOST AFFILIATE: Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association DATE: September 26-28, 2008 LOCATION: Horse Heaven Ranch, Talihina, OK FEES: $75 per adult or $45 per youth (12 & under) – includes five meals, entertainment and all the fun you can have! ADDITIONAL OPTIONS/FEE: RV hook-ups and cabins are available. They have a state-of-the-art bathhouse. RV hook-ups are $20 per night, which includes two horse-piped pens, BBQ grill, picnic table, water, electric and some have sewer hook-ups. Also, there are pull-in RV sites available. One-bedroom cabins are available for $142.76 per night for four adults, two children and three horses. Two bedroom cabins are $172.76 per night for six adults, two kids and four horses. Three-bedroom cabins are $250 per night for six people and six horses. There is a $5 charge per horse or extra person. Tent sites with electric and water are $20 per night, and tent sites with no utilities are $15 per night. Also, there are box stalls in the barn available for $15 per night. BACKGROUND: Are you ready for a weekend of great food, riding along beautiful trails on the Ouachita National Forest or fishing in the two ponds stocked with catfish, bass and perch? Horse Heaven Ranch offers access to hundred of miles of trails nestled in southeastern Oklahoma. ITINERARY: Begin your adventure Friday afternoon with check-in and stew dinner served at 6 p.m. Saturday, start with breakfast at 7 a.m. with the Ride leaving base camp at 8:30 a.m. Non-riders can head to Talimena Drive or hang out at camp. Lunch served at 1 p.m. followed by a poker run beginning at 2:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., bring your finger for a night of live auction fun. Entertainment will begin at 9 p.m. Sunday, riders will start with breakfast at 7 a.m., a cowboy church service at 8 a.m. and a morning ride leaving at 9:30 a.m. Return to break camp. DIRECTIONS: As you arrive into Talihina on Highway 271, turn east on Highway 63 and travel seven miles to the entrance of Horse Heaven Ranch on the north side. Turn into entrance and go one mile to get to the camp. HORSE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: Negative Coggins must be presented upon check-in. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: All AQHA Trail Rules apply, in addition to Horse Heaven Ranch Trail Rules.
