TUSCUMBIA, ALABAMA HOST AFFILIATE: Alabama Quarter Horse Association DATE: October 11-12, 2008 LOCATION: Seven Springs Lodge, Tuscumbia, AL FEES: $65 per adult or $55 per youth 12 & under – includes four meals ADDITIONAL OPTIONS/FEE: Visit the area of Tuscumbia. There is the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, Coon Dog Cemetery, Natchez Trace Parkway and the largest domiciliary Indian mound in the Tennessee Valley. BACKGROUND: The Seven Springs Lodge is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The lodge offers an opportunity to get away from the city life and relax. While strolling down the trail, riders can ride along the region of historic Native Indian shelters. One of the shelters housed the oldest Indian burial remains found in Alabama dating back 8,000 years. Trails are designed for beginners to experienced riders to enjoy the beauty of scenic Alabama. ITINERARY: Saturday and Sunday there will be two guided half-day rides offered to participants. All riders will have access to the Native American sites and scenic vistas. Experienced riders can access some of the sites on horseback. Less experienced riders can tie their horses to furnished hitching posts and walk to the sites. RENTAL HORSES: Yes – Contact Seven Springs Lodge / $75 per day STALLS AVAILABLE: Yes – 75 covered and 21 uncovered stalls available for $5 per night. Bedding is available for $7 per bag. FACILITIES AVAILABLE: RV hook-ups, showers, restrooms, water for horses, free Wi-Fi access, swimming pool, hot tub and trailer tie-up is permitted.
