Historic Winderadeen Dispersal in Australia

The total dispersal of the Winderadeen Quarter Horse Stud was January 3-4 at Winderadeen, Australia.

Founded in 1970, the 8,500 acre ranch situated just north of Canberra has been a source of top Australian cutting and western pleasure performance American Quarter Horses.

Buyers came from across Australia, New Zealand and also from the United States.

The cutting horses sold January 3 and brought a total of $891,000 AUS*, averaging $24,750.

The pleasure horses sold January 4 and grossed $1.47 million, with an average of $38,000.

The sale’s high-seller was the 2001 stallion HF Somethin Hot, by Radical Rodder and out of Tahnee Zippo by Zippo Pine Bar, who sold for $310,000 to Coronation Park. The stallion is a half brother to leading sire Blazing Hot and was bred by Robert Wolf of Okemos, Michigan. (Pictured here with new owners, Kathy Peterson and Peter Flynn; Dave Christiansen photo.)

All sale horses were registered with the Australian Quarter Horse Association, with 30 also registered with AQHA. The overall gross for the 74 horses sold was $2.36 million AUS*, with an overall average of $31,918. The 30 AQHA-registered horses grossed $1.28 million, for an average of $49,600. *All amounts in Australian dollars, approximately $0.93 U.S. on sale day
