Saturday, August 15, Europe’s premier Quarter Horse show starts in Kreuth, Germany: the 2009 European Championship of American Quarter Horses. It will run through August 23.

More than 450 horses from all over the continent have been nominated for this renowned event celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. For the first time, competitors from Croatia will show their horses here. Israel announced the coming of four youth competitors.

The European Championship is proud to welcome AQHA officials at Kreuth again, and extends a special warm welcome to former AQHA Executive Vice President Bill Brewer, who will attend the show during the second week-end.

The biggest classes will be in reining again with 50 competitors in amateur reining alone. Other performance classes are strong as well – 28 horses have been nominated to junior Western Pleasure. Entry lists, schedule and patterns are available under the European Championship Web site: www.ecqh.eu.

The first week-end is dedicated to the cattle events and halter. The senior cutting has 14 competitors, among them last year’s European champion in junior cutting Karel Spacil from the Czech Republic, as well as multiple European champion Gerold Dautzenberg from Austria. German-born Uwe Roeschmann, another former European champion, will also ride. He has lived in Texas for several years now. He was the reserve open champion in National Cutting Horse Association Masters Cutting at the 2008 Americana.

The European Championship is a must-see for Quarter Horse fans all over Europe with great horses and riders. There is no entry fee for visitors. Find the latest results and watch AK Video’s live stream video of the competition at: www.ecqh.eu
