REGION 10 EXPERIENCE

DAY ONE, MAY 15, 2008

Region 10 is underway in Clemson, South Carolina, home of Clemson University! The weather was nice and cool all day, and the afternoon showers didn't dampen the showing spirit in the T.Ed Garrison Arena.The running entry count is just under 700 and expected to rise over the weekend.

Rhonda LaCroix preps Robert and Connie Helms’ homebred RCH Ima Fancy Dancer for an appearance in all-age mares. They hail from Sanford, North Carolina.

Billy Parton led Lahudood in open yearling stallions for owner Luke Woodbury of Morgantown, North Carolina. Luke also led the horse to the amateur yearling stallions win.

Sandra Lines of Indiantown, Florida, and Photons Chili Bars won the open performance mares class. The mare is a 2002 daughter of Photon out of Cool Diversion by Diversified.

Veterinarian Kim Ipock of Lagrange, North Carolina, and Chants Double Image, aka “Chase,” are showing in nine classes at their first Regional Experience. At the end of the day they were leading the amateur all-around standings.

Longtime show folk Sharon Kostrova, Jan Lines and Judy Sullivan headed up the show office handling entries, results, etc.

 

Barbara Osborne of Americus, Georgia, led Mr Tama Leaguer in amateur performance geldings. The gelding won reserve in that class as well as the reserve in open performance geldings with Louise Wilcox.

Jody Capps of Jefferson, South Carolina, gives Hes Fine Too a final polish before the junior western pleasure. Wesley Smith of Apex, North Carolina, owns the 3-year-old gelding.

Laura Swearingen and Protect The Gold of Green Cove Spring, Florida, won the reserve in novice amateur showmanship.

Christie Arrington of Graceville, Florida, won reserve in the green western pleasure aboard RV Radical Zip Rod.

Ima Cool Cheer, aka “Dakota,” participated in AQHA Pro Horseman Chuck Briggs’ clinic on hunter under saddle with Julie Steinmetz-Usoff riding him.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The day featured two Team Wrangler clinics - halter with Ted Turner and hunter under saddle with Chuck Briggs - along with amateur and open halter, showmanship, pleasure, horsemanship and western riding. The day's two biggest classes were novice amateur western pleasure and novice amateur horsemanship - with 25 entries each.

AQHA Judges Jan Hoskins, Russ Smith and Betsey Tuckey kept the show hopping right through 6 p.m. The all-around leaders at that time were: open - Barbara Osborne's Mr Tama Leaguer (Americus, GA); Select - Leagues Magnum Force and Nancy Perkins (Zephyrhills, FL); amateur - Chants Double Image and Kim Ipock (Lagrange, NC); and novice amateur - Appraised Venture and Ricky Arrington (Graceville, FL).
