Georgia Snow is no stranger to world championships. She has won four. However, the mare she was leading, Grace N Glamour, had not. That was until August 27 when the 4-year-old mare took the gold trophy in the Select aged mares class. But it was no surprise for Georgia. Grace N Glamour’s dam, Amazin Playgirl, was a three-time world champion herself. The Journal caught up with Georgia shortly after her victory to ask her about her winning run.
Q. Congratulations! How was it today?
It was very exciting.
Q. Is this your first world championship?
No, ma’am. But it is still exciting.
Q. Has Grace N Glamour won a world championship before?
No. We showed her just enough to qualify her this year and then we brought her here. And she is qualified for the open World, and Ted (Turner) will be showing her there for us. So we’re excited about that. Her mother is a three-time world champion. Our son, Wes, showed her the last time at the Youth World and she already had one baby and was carrying another. It’s so exciting.
Georgia Snow and Grace N Glamour are the Select aged mares world champions.
Q. What’s her personality like?
Well, at home she’s very mellow. She hasn’t been to town a lot, so she got kind of excited here. And rather than running over me or something, she just usually blows bubbles and moves her lips so you kind of know it’s coming. But she’s a real sweet mare. We love her a lot. Hope we can keep her for a broodmare.
Q. As a show horse, what do you like about her?
What don’t I like about her? She is just the kind of horse we strive for. We like a horse with a lot of muscle but we like a horse that is real correct and has a lot of pretty. When she was born we thought Grace N Glamour, that to us just described her.
Q. What did you think about the class today?
There were some really nice mares in there that have won quite a bit. I hadn’t shown against any of them so I wasn’t sure how it would go. It was awesome.
Q. Tell me about yourself.
I’m a mother of three. I have a son, Joe, who is 38, a son, Will, who is 30, and a son Wes, who is 25. I have a granddaughter who is 7. Her mother showed this mare’s mother also.
Q. Who is your trainer?
Ted Turner. He’s awesome. He and my husband have been friends for 40 years. I probably shouldn’t say that, but they have. He’s a close family friend.
Q. Anyone you would like to thank?
I thank everybody. I couldn’t have done it without Ted. Of course, my husband bred the mare for me and it’s a family. We all do it together. I appreciate all the prizes AQHA gives us. It’s just awesome. I’m really excited.
