Esharp first showed at the Bayer Select World Championship Show in 2005 and was led to his first world championship in the 3-year-old geldings class by his owner Charles Pircher.
Charles and the sorrel gelding returned in 2006 to Amarillo and once again left as champions, this time in the aged geldings.
But could they repeat their winning ways in 2007?
The answer was yes.
In a class of 17 entries, Charles and “Shooter” won a third Bayer Select World trophy on August 29.
“He responded well, and was a lot of fun to show today,” Charles said. “He was just on today.”
Shooter’s trainer, AQHA Professional Horseman Luke Castle, said the gelding just stands out in a crowd.
“I think it is his muscle,” Luke said. “He’s got a huge leg and front end. He’s a lot of horse but yet he’s streamline made; real elegant and real deep-hearted. I think that’s what stood out today among a lot of good geldings.”
Next up for Shooter will be the All American Quarter Horse Congress and then to Oklahoma City for the AQHA World Championship Show, where Luke will show him.
But will Charles bring him back to Bayer Select World again next year to shoot for a fourth world title?
“Maybe,” Charles said with a smile. “Never say never.”
