Not many people ever get the honor of winning a world championship, and even fewer score their second championship aboard the son of winner of the first title.

In 1986, Dolly Anderson and The St Louie Woman were crowned AQHA world champions in amateur jumping. Two decades later, she took home her second gold trophy on one of St Louie Woman’s foals, St Louie Jazz.

The chestnut gelding is by Sonnys Hot Jazz out of The St Louie Woman, by Shade Parr.

“It’s so exciting to win this on her son,” Dolly said. “We’ve raised both of them, and it makes it that much more special.”

Dolly and Louie take their victory lap around the Amarillo National Center after they were announced the Bayer Select equitation over fences champions.
This was Dolly’s first year to compete at the Bayer Select World Championship Show, and she came with a big game plan. She and Louie also competed in the hunter hack, working hunter and jumping.

“It was a lot of work and I’m sure worn out, but ‘Louie’ really enjoys showing, so it makes it fun,” Dolly said. “This show is a wonderful encouraging place for us older riders, and I just love it.”

Dolly and Louie weren’t alone to celebrate their victory. Dolly’s children and grandson were along for the ride, and even got one of her top-10 jackets to keep for their own.

“They are all here supporting me, and this is just as much theirs as it is mine,” she said.

At 70, Dolly doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon. She said she and Louie will be back at the Bayer Select World next year to shoot for another world title.
