It’s no secret which filly came out on top.

From a field of 16, Top Secretina, owned and shown by Daryl Lankin of Aubrey, Texas, was named world champion yearling mare at the Bayer Select World Championship Show.

Top Secretina and Daryl Lankin take
home the world championship.

The 2005 chestnut mare is by The Top Secret and out of RPL My Te Touching by Touchdown Kid.

“It was very, very exciting for me because it’s by the horse we’re standing,” Daryl said. “We raised her. She’s an embryo transfer out of a 2-year-old Touchdown Kid mare, and we’ve been real proud of her ever since she was a baby. Last year, she got sick at the World Show, and we weren’t able to really get her shown, but she came back this year and got it done for us.”

It’s the second year for Lankin to win a Bayer Select world championship. Last year, she did it in weanling mares with Wanna Be On Top.

“To come back and win it with a yearling is very exciting,” she said, but the class was tough.

“It was pretty competitive, and everybody showed good,” Daryl said. “The horse that was second was really a nice horse, and I feel proud to have done what we did.”

The reserve world champion yearling mare was One Hot Cha Cha, owned and shown by Linda Ham.

After the Bayer Select World, Top Secretina is pointed toward the AQHA World Championship Show, where she will be shown in FedEx Open competition by Ross Roark.

“And hopefully, we’ll go on from there,” Daryl said. “We’re hoping to keep her and show her and win as much as we can and have some more babies that look just like her.”
