It spread by word of mouth: AQHA Corporate Partner Wrangler was conducting a jean-fit test in the World Show sale pavilion – and the company was paying $50 to the ladies who agreed to be its guinea pigs. It was all a part of Wrangler’s effort to keep AQHA members in the best, most comfortable jeans possible for their riding needs.
Participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire and give their opinions on five different styles of jeans during the 30- to 45-minute fitting.
Journal Intern Lauren Sciba said she would have done the fit test for free because at 6 feet, she has a hard time finding jeans that fit her properly and wanted to give Wrangler all the help she could.
Like Goldielocks trying to find the right porridge, Lauren tried on pair after pair of jeans in search of the perfect fit. Too tight here, too loose there, never too long; Lauren finally settled on a favorite. The biggest obstacle to the whole process was the zip-front, 7-foot-tall dressing tents that participants had to use.
So after only one minor dressing tent fiasco, Lauren finished the test with a little hope and a crisp $50 bill in her pocket. The cash was a nice bonus for the “starving” Northwestern State University of Louisiana student.
