ENGAGED AT THE WORLD

KEVIN POPS THE QUESTION.

BY MEGAN BROWNELL, JOURNAL INTERN

Newly engaged Kevin Genz and Donna Collings of Alberta, Canada.

Kevin Genz surprised his girlfriend, Donna Collings, with the question of a lifetime on November 15.

“Will you marry me?” appeared on the Bank of America super screens Thursday night. After dating for ten years, Kevin said he knew he had to do something big with such an important question.

Donna said, “Yes!” and the newly engaged Kevin and Donna shared their special moment with the entire AQHA World Championship Show.

Kevin and Donna met through a telephone dating service. After two weeks of talking, the two decided to meet and the rest is history.

Kevin raises performance Quarter Horses at Spruce Grove in Alberta. Donna wasn’t interested in horses but fell in love with Kevin and his horse passion.

“I love every baby that’s born!” Donna said about their horses.

“Every one we sell is a little difficult,” she said. Kevin and Donna sold a yearling at this year’s World Show.

“As long as they go to good home, I’m okay,” Donna said.

Donna now wears a custom-designed ring by Gold Creations (their booth can be found at the Trade Show).

“I was shocked!” she said about the proposal. Kevin said she expected the ring at supper, and he decided to make his proposal a bit more extravagant.

“I’m still overwhelmed,” Donna said smiling as she looked at her diamond-filled horseshow ring.

“It is very special,” Donna said.

“Yep, I have my world champion right here,” Kevin said, hugging his new fiancé.
