2009 AQHA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

NOVEMBER 6 - 21 | OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA

3-YEAR-OLD STALLIONS

ACOOLEST THREE-PEATS AS WORLD CHAMPION.

BY LARRI JO STARKEY, COPY EDITOR

Acoolest wins the 2008 world championship in 3-year-old stallions with Ross Roark.

In 2006, Acoolest was the world champion yearling stallion. In 2007, he was the world champion 2-year-old. This year, with AQHA Pro Horseman Ross Roark at the shank, he was named world champion 3-year-old. The sorrel was also the amateur world champion 2-year-old and 3-year-old with owner Rita Crundwell of Dixon, Illinois. Ross took a few moments after the win to talk about the stallion.

Q: Could you talk a little bit about Acoolest?
Ross: Acoolest is a 3-year-old stud by Coolest out of Attest. Attest is by Touchdown Kid. She’s a mare I showed. Rita won the world with her. He’s a five-time world champion now. He’s really, really a good horse. He’s pretty; he’s balanced. Good feet and legs. He’s got adequate enough muscle. He’s something our breed has been needing. He’s an N/N stud. He’s a really really good individual.

Q: He looks like he’s pretty easy to show.
Ross: He’s very good-minded. He enjoys showing. That horse is broke to ride, and he’s a real good individual. You don’t get very often the chance to show one as good as him.

Q: Will he come back and defend his title?
Ross: I couldn’t say, but I think he’s an individual who’s going to keep getting better every year he’s alive. His mama is a great mare, and I’ve seen this horse progress every year since he was a yearling, and it’s for the better. I think if there’s every a horse that could come back and show as a 4-year-old, I think he’ll be better next year.

Fun Fact: Acoolest already has a foal crop on the ground.
