Before coming into the arena during the amateur pleasure driving finals, Kristin Mazzarini-Martin didn’t know what to expect from A Certified Edition known as “Winston”.

“We practiced like normal, and he just wasn’t that great outside of the arena,” she said. “I was a little nervous going in, but when they said to park gait your horses, he really got into it and was awesome.”

With the added pressure of a world championship on the line, Mazzarini-Martin and Winston were cool strolling along the edge of the arena.

“It gets pretty nerve racking sometimes because you get excited, and you know what is at stake,” she said.

Mazzarini-Martin calls Winston her big puppy dog because of his loveable personality. The pair plan to be back at the World Show next year, and she says she is not going to change rides any time soon.

“I’ll keep him forever,” she said. “He’ll end up being a pasture pony at my house someday because I’ll never sell him.”

This is the second year in row Mazzarini-Martin and Winston drove out of the arena with a gold world championship trophy. The pair have been together for four years, and also have claimed two amateur world championships in hunter under saddle.

“It’s an amazing feeling. I still can’t believe we won two years in a row,” she said. “It was so hot in the arena, and my face turned beat red when they announced my name. I couldn’t move when they announced my name.”
