“He was on two wheels for a while today,” Smallwood said with a grin. “I think the excitement just got to him, but I hung in there. It would have taken a lot to pry my hands off him.”
Smallwood and his wife, AQHA Professional Horseman Kathy Smallwood, raised “Wishbone” at their place in Pilot Point, Texas. The couple lost his mother, Cool Innocence, in August, but have Wishbone to carry on her name.

“This is what she left us, along with two embryos in the oven,” Smallwood said. “He made his mother proud today, and we are just thrilled to death.”
This is Smallwood’s third halter horse to raise, and all three have been world champions.
Wishbone is set for a break after the World Show. Smallwood plans to hold him back until some of the bigger stock shows, then get him back out into the show circuit.
The sorrel stallion is getting his show career off on the right foot with a world championship under his belt. Smallwood wants to campaign him and get him back to the World Show next year.
