Somewhere 14-year-old Sydney Banack of Vero Beach, Florida, is smiling. Her 1998 bay gelding, Watch For Details, also known as “Rolex,” won a world championship in green working hunter. Rolex was ridden by trainer Alfred Hewitt.

“I bought him in December. My nephew showed him and qualified in all the amateur stuff, and I sold him to (Banack) prior to this show,” Hewitt explained. “She showed him at the Congress and did well, and she’ll be showing him all next year.”

At the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Ohio, Banack and Rolex came in eighth in novice youth working hunter and placed 10th in the youth hunter hack (13 & under).

Alfred H Hewitt rode Watch For Details to a world championship in green working hunter.

Banack didn’t show this year at the World, but has big plans for Rolex in the future.

“She’s planning on doing (AQHYA) Youth World (Championship Show) next year, so we’ll see,” said Hewitt.

Green working hunter came after a string of halter classes in the morning, which left Hewitt without precious practice time in the Coliseum. He said it worked out just fine anyway.

One jump in the course, a green vertical with purple flowers along the base, proved to be distracting for some horses, causing two refusals. When Rolex got to it, he didn’t even bat an eye.

“He’s been solid all year,” Hewitt said. “Not schooling in that ring this morning didn’t bother me because he’s better fresh anyway.”
