Alfred Hewitt was on a roll Thursday afternoon. After riding Watch For Details to a world championship in green working hunter, he hopped aboard Vision of Art, riding another clean course for a win in junior working hunter.

“She goes out and she does her job well,” Hewitt said of the 5-year-old sorrel mare nicknamed “Allie”. “She won the equitation over fences last week, so I kind of new she behaved well in the ring, and she was very good.”

Alfred Hewitt and Vision of Art, a 5-year-old sorrel mare by Artful Move, win the junior working hunter world championship.
The world championship equitation over fences win during amateur week was with Allie’s owner, Becky King. The pair placed third in the hunt seat equitation finals.  Hewitt also rode Allie in the green working hunter class.

He rode at least one horse in green working hunter, junior working hunter, senior working hunter and jumping.

With the musical chairs routine between horses, how does Hewitt stay focused?

“I’ve ridden different horses my whole life, so I know each horse and how it goes,” he explained.

Riding practically the same course in junior working hunter as he had just done in green working hunter proved to be an advantage for Hewitt and Allie.

“They added the bending line in the junior, and she was very good on it,” he said. “It was a very nice ride.”
