There’s no doubt AQHA Professional Horseman Jason Martin is a force in the arena. For the fourth time, he took home the title of Professional’s Choice Leading Exhibitor at the World Show after he earned 73 points. It was a landslide ahead of runner-up Bobby Lewis, who earned 28.5 points.
Martin competed in eight classes this year and took home two world championships in junior pleasure driving and senior working hunter. He also brought home a reserve world championship in senior hunter hack.

Martin accepts his award from AQHA President Frank Howell and AQHA Executive Commitee Second Vice President Frank Merrill. |
“We come here every year aiming for this award, so it’s always great when we pull it off,” he said.
Martin’s trophy shelves are lined with world championship gold trophies, but said this year’s junior pleasure driving championship on Artful Persuasion was extra special because he and partner Charlie Cole raised the 3-year-old gelding.
Along with bragging rights, Martin received some great prizes. Professional’s Choice presented Martin with a $5,000 check, along with an original Lisa Perry bronze and a $1,000 Professional’s Choice gift certificate.
Martin doesn’t plan to let up on competition any time soon.
“You can bet I’ll be back next year,” Martin said.
Martin trains all-around horses with Charlie Cole at their facility, High Point Performance Horses, in Pilot Point, Texas. Martin is an AQHA Team Wrangler member, and he and Cole currently train 10 to 15 amateur and youth riders.
