One Perfect Clu, aka “Baby Clu,” walked out of the World Show arena with the world championship in weanling geldings; he placed first under all five judges.

It’s his second world championship of 2005; he also won the class during amateur week, again placing first under all five judges.

That means 10 different World Show judges put this horse at the top of his class.

Trainer and AQHA Pro Horseman Gene Parker of Orrum, North Carolina, said he thinks it’s because, “he looks like a Quarter Horse.”

“He’s pretty, he’s balanced, he’s real good-legged and got a lot of eye appeal to him,” Parker said. “He’s correct with real good color to him. He’s a good show horse.”

One Perfect Clu wins the open weanling geldings world championship led by Gene Parker of Orrum, NC. The gelding also won the amateur weanling geldings with owner Terry Wilkerson.
Parker’s been involved with every aspect of Baby Clu. He sold the gelding’s dam to a long time customer of his, Gerald McColskey, who lives just down the road from him. He then advised another longtime customer, Terry Wilkerson, to buy the gelding earlier this fall as a show prospect. The little gelding’s been a win-win for everyone involved.

“(Terry) also won the Congress with him in weanling geldings in open and amateur, and now (he’s) won the World twice, so we’re pretty excited,” Parker said.

“He’s really good-natured and real quiet,” he continued. “He’s almost too quiet for me. He shows good and tracks good. He’s been a very pleasant horse to be around.

“You can just kind of pick your hand up a little bit and cluck to him, he’ll give you his ears and show for you real good.”

Baby Clu is by One Silent Clu, a 1999 sorrel stallion that Parker led to the 2003 aged stallion world championship. Bred and owned by Ronald Wheeler of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Parker has stood the horse at his facility in North Carolina for three years now.

“This is the first world champion by that horse,” Parker said. “We’re pretty excited about that.”
