Elusives Charm continued her undefeated streak into the second week of the World Show.

Nicknamed “Little Fancy,” the sorrel filly already won amateur weanling mares with owner/breeder Mac Crawford at the lead, and continued her success in open weanling mares with AQHA Professional Horseman Jason Smith.

“The neat thing is that she’s the first world champion by the stallion that we own,” Crawford, of Nashville, Tenessee, said.

He and his wife, Linda, own Elusives Charm’s sire, Elusive Kid, and her dam, Cool Skips Fancy.

“We had the opportunity to buy Cool Skips Fancy at Jim Dunn’s sale when he sold a lot of his halter horses,” Crawford explained. “Great mare, looked like she would fit on our horse, and did.”

Jason Smith showed Elusives Charm to her second world
championship win at the show.
Out of all the horses the Crawfords are raising, Crawford has noticed a special ring presence about Elusives Charm.

“I’ve got a lot of good babies and a lot of good horses,” he said “This filly I think is a show filly. She likes to show, she enjoys it. And this is the first time she’d ever been to a show, but she does have the ability to stand out in the show ring. I think that’s unique to certain horses.”

The Crawfords plan to take Elusives Charm home to rest for a while, and then continue her show career. But for now, they’re thrilled about their first homebred champion.

“We had the same thing (winning amateur and open) happen to us two years ago with a yearling filly,” he said, speaking of JMK Blink Blink, a 2002 chestnut mare they bought from James Melvin Kifer. “But to come back to do it with one that we raised is very, very special to us.”
