Leading a pretty filly nicknamed “J-Lo,” Wayne Halvorson showed her to the top of the 2-year-old mare class.

Wayne was delighted with CRL Shesa Cool Coosa’s world championship for new owner Lew Papendick of Rapid City, South Dakota, as well as with a validation of a breeding nick he thought would work.

“She was a mare that we raised at our ranch,” Wayne said. “Cal Loree and I were partners on the ranch, and we purchased Coosa, then Ima Cool Skip and bred daughters of them to Perpetualism, so she’s the resulting mare of that cross.”

Wayne likes the new world champion’s powerful build.

“She’s an exceptional mare in her quality,” Wayne said. “She’s got an ample amount of muscling, very pretty and she’s feminine.”

Wayne thinks the 2-year-old class is one of the premier classes at the World Show.

“I think anybody who gets an opportunity to place in the top 10 in that class is very happy,” Wayne said, “because it’s always a very tough class to compete in, and to go away from there with a first place is awesome. I’m really pleased.”

Wayne said Lew and his family plan to show J-Lo in Select, amateur and youth contests, aiming at the 2007 world shows.

“I’ll bring her back (here) for the open,” Wayne said, “so she has quite a few more world shows to show at.”
