A six-time world champion claimed another title.

Majestic Scotch, owned by T. Sharnai Thompson, carried AQHA Professional Horseman Charlie Cole to the senior western pleasure title November 17.

The 1994 sorrel gelding, called “Dickie,” bested a strong field of 15 finalists.

“It was a great pleasure class,” Sharnai said. “All of them have been here. I’ve watched all of them, and the pleasure horses are really looking very good.”

Dickie’s world championships came in 2002 in senior western pleasure; in 2003 in youth western riding; in 2005 in senior western riding, youth western pleasure and youth western riding; and this year in youth western pleasure.

“He is quite possibly the greatest horse ever,” Sharnai said. “I am so lucky to ride him, because he really is a great one. Not many people are as lucky as I am to get to ride something like that.”

After the win was announced, Charlie dropped Dickie’s bridle, put him into a reining spin and began a victory lap, asking the horse to swap leads every two strides. Sharnai wasn’t surprised at the exhibition.

“He was so excited to have it finally happen that I knew he was going to make a big deal out of it, which he did,” she said. “It was good; it was really funny.

“I’m so happy for Charlie. Charlie and Jason (Martin) do the all-around events, and I’m really happy for him to get a win in the western pleasure. I think it means a lot to him. He’s won a lot at the World Show, but I think it means a lot to him, and I’m happy that he could have it on my horse.”
