Carrie Von Uhlit couldn’t make it to this year’s World Show to see her horse, Another Valentino, perform.

While the Texas Christian University freshman was in class she kept in touch with her aunt, Lise Von Uhlit, by text messaging on how “Dino” was doing.

So when Dino won the senior working hunter world championship on Thursday, November 16, Carrie was messaging Lise furiously.

“She’s text messaging as fast as she can and she’s probably going to get herself in trouble in school,” Lise said. “And she’s crying. She’s just escastic. She’s worked very hard to get him ready and have him ready for us.”

Ryan Painter and Another Valentino won the senior working hunter finals for owner Carrie Von Uhlit.
Lise called in her friend Ryan Painter to ride the 1991 brown gelding in the class, and he actually fell off of Dino exercising the horse the night before.

“The door slammed in the warm-up arena just as (Dino) landed from a fence and it made (Dino) turn around and it was just one of those things,” Lise said. “It ended up being a joke between us: One day in the dirt. One day a gold trophy.”

By General Mito and out of Cheese Got Legs by Churn (TB), Dino came into Carrie’s life just before the 2005 All American Quarter Horse Congress.

“He won at the Congress with her right off the bat,” Lise said. “Jason Martin had said to buy this horse and he was right. He’s a great horse.”

He also put Carrie in the top 10 at her last Ford Youth World this year in the hunter hack and working hunter classes.

But with Carrie putting more of her attention into getting a 2-year-old by Artful Investment ready for the show arena, she and Lise have decided to sell Dino.

“He’s been a great horse for us but it’s time for him to go and be a great horse for someone else,” Lise said, tears brimming in her eyes. “So, him winning here is kind of a great way to have our last show with him.”
