For the second time this year, Top Secretina has been named world champion.

The 2005 chestnut mare by The Top Secret and out of RPL My Te Touching by Touchdown Kid was named top yearling mare November 16 at the AQHA World Championship Show under the lead of Ross Roark, repeating the win she made at the 2006 Bayer Select World Championship Show with her owner at the time, Daryl Lankin.

Now owned by Gerri Leigh Pratt, the filly has a fan in AQHA Professional Horseman Ross.

“She’s one of those I can put in the category with the mares I’ve had – She Scores, Precious Mister, Shes A Perfect Clue – I think she’s that kind of mare,” Ross said. “She’s got balance, she’s got muscling, she’s got femininity. She’s very correct on her feet and legs.”

Top Secretina even has fans at the barn.

“I call her ‘Tina,’” Ross said. “The boys that work for me call her 'J-Lo' because she’s so pretty.”

Tina bested a field of 31 entries for the championship.

“It’s tough out here,” Ross said. “Anytime you come here, you have to have quality horses, and you have to have them ready. The filly that Gene Parker has is a super filly.”

A Mona Lisa Clu, shown by Gene and owned by Eloise Turner-Jones, was reserve world champion.

Next on Tina's agenda is a little time off, Ross said, before a decision on whether to get embryos from her. After that, Tina will go back on the road with new owner Gerri Leigh – who bought the filly about a week ago – attempting to qualify for the 2007 World Show.

“Gerri Leigh’s going to show her in amateur, so we’ll have to get her qualified,” Ross said. “I’ve already got an automatic bid, so we have to get Gerri Leigh taken care of.”
